Family Fun Day Delivers Smiles, Sunshine and Spectacular Racing at Newton Abbot Racecourse
Thousands Enjoy a Fantastic Family Day at the Races
Our Family Fun Day at Newton Abbot Racecourse proved to be one of the highlights of the summer, as families from across Devon and the South West joined us for an unforgettable afternoon of live horse racing, family entertainment and community fun.
Taking place at the start of the school summer holidays, the event brought together everything that makes a great family day out in Devon – exciting racing, free children's activities, delicious food and drink, and plenty of opportunities to relax and make lasting memories.
Whether visitors were experiencing horse racing for the very first time or were regular racegoers, it was fantastic to see so many people enjoying a day at the races together.
A Family Fun Day Packed with Entertainment
There was something for everyone throughout the afternoon, with children enjoying a huge range of free activities included with their admission.

Traditional games including Hook-a-Duck
Sports activities with Saints South West
Plenty of space for picnics and outdoor games
Racecard quiz to win an ice cream
Combined with seven thrilling races on the track, the day perfectly showcased why Newton Abbot Racecourse is one of the South West's favourite destinations for a family fun day.
The Mascot Race Steals the Show
One of the biggest highlights of the afternoon was undoubtedly the Rowcroft Hospice Mascot Race, which had spectators of all ages cheering from the sidelines.
Mascots from attractions, sports clubs and organisations across the region battled it out in a race full of laughs, friendly rivalry and plenty of competitive spirit.
Congratulations go to 'Appy Angus, who stormed to victory to be crowned this year's Mascot Race Champion.
A huge thank you goes to every mascot and organisation who took part and helped create such a memorable spectacle. The race has quickly become one of the most anticipated parts of our Family Fun Day and we can't wait to welcome everyone back next year.
More Than Just Horse Racing
At Newton Abbot Racecourse, we're passionate about making racing accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
A family day at the races is about much more than watching horses compete. It's about spending quality time together, introducing children to the excitement of live sport, enjoying the beautiful surroundings of our racecourse and creating shared experiences that families will remember long after the final race.
