Salary: £15,210 – £16,380 per annum
Job Type: Permanent, Part-time, office-based, 22 hours per week, ideally over 4 days, although we are flexible.

Availability on Monday – Friday is required as the working days will vary according to racing dates.

We have an exciting opportunity for a new position that has opened up to join our friendly team at Newton Abbot Racecourse.

As the most southernly racecourse in the country, we operate from our office at the racecourse with a lovely view of the parade ring.

We are looking to recruit a computer literate individual with Microsoft Excel skills to join our growing business.

As an aspiring Accounts & Payroll Assistant, you will support the Financial Controller by processing wages for over 200 casual staff, together with accounting transactions relating to the business activities.

For the right person, there is career potential and room to grow alongside the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Invoice & Payment Processing
  • Entering Sales Invoices
  • Credit Control
  • Reconciling Petty Cash & Events Cash Floats
  • Preparing Staff Sheets for Racedays using Microsoft Excel
  • Typing Staff Sheets for Racedays using Microsoft Excel
  • Entering New Casual Staff on Sage Payroll
  • Processing the Wages
  • Other responsibilities as and when required

Training will be provided.

Skills and Experience:

  • Computer Literate – Essential

    ( Bookkeeping Experience – Desirable

Bar and Hospitality Staff

To provide the best possible experience to all racegoers, we are looking to recruit between 40 and 50 members of bar and hospitality staff to serve at our 18 racing fixtures this season.

Bar and hospitality recruits will join our team within our busy hospitality suites, restaurants, and bars.

We are also recruiting for a cellar person to work in our newly created cellar which serves the three newly refurbished main bars on racedays.

All members of staff will undertake a fully paid training programme ahead of the season opener.

Excellent rates of pay are available for these roles, from £12.89 per hour inclusive of holiday pay.

We are looking for staff who are keen to make a customer’s day feel special and who are able to deliver excellent customer service with the ability to make the entire experience enjoyable. You must be hardworking, motivated, punctual, polite and enthusiastic

You will need to provide a safe, friendly environment for all of our customers, whilst delivering an efficient and energetic service. Your role could be the face of the company or the first point of contact for our guests.

Applicants MUST have experience working within busy environments, with the correct attitude and the desire to achieve.

Shifts are typically between 6-8 hours, with extended shifts on feature racedays and other events. This is casual work which is perfect if you want the flexibility. This will include working both weekdays and weekends with good rates of pay.

Casual staff are paid every two weeks.
