Yes, in just one week’s time we’ll be back with the much-loved Newton Abbot Racecourse Country Fair. Join us from 10am on Saturday 6 August for a fun-filled day out for all of the family.
San Giovanni, who had made all the running to beat market leader Biowavego at Worcester last month, was favourite to take the opening Racing Partnership Novices’ Hurdle over two miles and five and a half furlongs, shortening to 4/9 before easing back to 4/7 at the off as late money came for Huelgoat.
With Biowavego franking the form when winning at Uttoxeter on Friday, San Giovanni certainly looked the one to beat, although Huelgoat, who had come back from a 160-day break to be beaten less than a length by Little Jessture in a handicap here at the beginning of the month, was receiving 7lbs.
State Crown, a winner over the course at the beginning of the month, can overcome a 3lb rise in the weights to land Newton Abbot’s feature race, the Class 3 Follow @attheraces On Twitter Handicap Hurdle over an extended two and a quarter miles, in the hands of Isabel Williams.
Extend that weekend feeling and enjoy another great afternoon of summer jumps racing with us at Newton Abbot Racecourse!
With six thrilling races to enjoy, what better place is there to spend the afternoon?
Gates open at 11.50am ahead of our first race of the day at 1.50pm. The final race of the day is set for 4.45pm
