Something for everyone at Newton Abbot Racecourse this Easter
With the recent reopening of the Dawlish mainline, bumper crowds are expected at Newton Abbot Racecourse as they prepare to welcome scores of horseracing fans for their ever-popular Easter Saturday fixture on 19th April.
As one of the main family-friendly fixtures of the season, the racecourse will again be welcoming the first 200 children with a free chocolate Easter egg to help ensure the Easter fixture gets off to a great start. The free eggs will be given to the first children through the Pedestrian entrance and through the ticket office in the centre of the course for those coming via car.
Teaming this with its continued money-saving offer of free entry for children aged 16 and under, plus students with a valid photographic student ID or NUS card, it is easy to see why a trip to the races at Easter continues to be a popular choice for local families and visitors to the area.
Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse, said: “We had a good turnout for the opening fixture of the season earlier this month. We are, however, very much looking forward to hosting our Easter Saturday fixture once again which always draws record crowds to the course.
“Following the winter storms and the subsequent rail closures, the region has taken somewhat of a hit in terms of visitor numbers. However, the reopening of the line at Dawlish comes at the ideal time for those looking to enjoy all that our fantastic area has to offer for an extended Bank Holiday weekend.
“We are very fortunate at Newton Abbot that our course is so accessible, with good access to the A38 and M5 and, of course, the train station within walking distance of the course. We look forward to welcoming racegoers from far and wide as we host another thrilling afternoon of summer jumps racing at Newton Abbot.”
Alongside the Easter eggs and free entry to tempt families to choose a day at the races this Easter, the racecourse’s Family Enclosure, with a bouncy castle, jousting and a big challenge assault course, will be open for the first time this year, before returning for the weekend and school holiday fixtures during the remainder of the season.
In addition to the family-focused events, the racecourse continues to offer something for everyone with group discounts for those looking to enjoy a day at the races with an extended group of friends, colleagues or family. Group discounts are available for parties of 8 or more when booked before 10am on the day of the fixture.
Racing will start at 2:10pm, with gates opening two hours before at 12:10pm. For more information and to buy tickets visit www.newtonabbotracing.com or call 01626 353 235.
