Racehorse syndicate - Old Gold Racing – steps in to sponsor Newton Abbot Racecourse’s ‘Behind Closed Doors’ triple fixtures

Old Gold Racing, the industrious racehorse syndicate is to sponsor Newton Abbot Racecourse’s three ‘behind closed doors’ fixtures.

Starting this Friday, 24th July, the three-race-meeting agreement includes horseracing on Wednesday, 5th August and the evening fixture on Friday, 21st August – all broadcast live on Sky Sports Racing on Sky 415.

Furthermore, the syndicate anticipates returning to the popular West Country track as an owner, with the youthful grey gelding – Bob Pebble – targeting the Novice Hurdle in early August, following his bumper debut at the start of the month.

Ed Seyfried, Chief Executive and Founder of Old Gold Racing, said: “Last month, Old Gold Racing made its debut at Newton Abbot, finishing third with both Darling Maltaix and Bob Pebble – two thoroughbreds under the charge of the 11 times champion trainer, Paul Nicholls.

“Newton Abbot is a proactive racecourse and we are delighted to support their three lockdown race meetings, which will provide our racehorse syndicate with fantastic exposure on Sky Sports Racing and other outlets.

“We also anticipate returning to Newton Abbot as an owner with Bob Pebble targeting the early August raceday. Hopefully, next time out Bob will turn bronze into gold!”

Pat Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse, added: “It’s been a torrid time for us all and we are truly appreciative that Old Gold Racing has the vision for the commercial opportunities surrounding race sponsorship during lockdown.

“We look forward to working with Old Gold Racing throughout August and in the future.”
