Newton Abbot Racecourse celebrates the holidays with an action-packed summer of fun
School is out and racing is in as Newton Abbot Racecourse gear up to celebrate the start of the summer holidays with their family fixture on Sunday 17 July.
Sunday’s afternoon fixture is the first of six major events to keep the whole family entertained without breaking the bank this summer holiday.
Racing enthusiasts are in for a treat as racing returns again on Monday 25 July with a bumper card featuring two pony races.
July’s racing will be closely followed by the racecourse’s 150th anniversary fixture on 10 August, where there’ll be celebratory souvenir bags for the first 200 racegoers through the gates and a planned giveaway of 1,000 free tickets ahead of the day.
But it’s not all racing this summer as the course will welcome some of the major stars from the 80s as they host their second music extravaganza, 80’s Gold, on Sunday 14 August featuring Tony Hadley, ABC, Bananarama and Midge Ure.
Patrick Masterson, Managing Director at Newton Abbot Racecourse, said: “We have got an action-packed calendar lined up with a focus on providing a summer of fun without breaking the bank.
“Racing starts from just £12 with free entry for students plus children aged 16 and under. Our 80’s Gold concert offers fantastic value with a whole night of live music from such stars for just £25 for adults and only £10 for children. We can’t wait to welcome locals and holidaymakers alike as we really celebrate summer here in the glorious South Devon countryside.”
Five racing fixtures take place at Newton Abbot Racecourse during the school holidays: Sunday 17 July, Monday 25 July, Wednesday 10 August, Saturday 20 August and Wednesday 31 August which is an evening fixture.
Racing starts at 14:05 on Sunday 17 July with gates opening at 12:05. Tickets for all fixtures and 80’s Gold are available now at www.newtonabbotracing.com or by calling 01626 353235.
