Abbot's Whispers - Saturday 19th April
Easter Saturday 19th April
RACE 1 – 2.10
Despite being a maiden over hurdles, HOWLONGISAFOOT has managed to win a point and a bumper and should be capable of opening his account over timber today. Although Cool George should go well, he’s had plenty of chances and a bigger threat may prove to be Rody, who’s very best chase form puts him in with a massive shout. The remainder all need to step up markedly on what they’ve achieved to date.
RACE 2 – 2.45
Ruapehu is well treated under a penalty for his recent success and looks sure to go well if reproducing that form, but he’ll be a short enough price and it might be worth chancing HEALTH IS WEALTH at bigger odds. The selection has winning form over course and distance, is well treated at his best and has gone well returning from a break in the past. Duneen Point also has claims in an open race and Present To You is another who cannot be dismissed at his best.
RACE 3 – 3.20
Former point winner LUMPYS GOLD has proved expensive to follow over hurdles, but he’s not done much wrong and looks to be on a fair mark. This doesn’t look to be the strongest of events and he’s fancied to open his account at the expense of The Rattler Obrien who has shown improved form for his current yard. Russie With Love is another with claims on her best form, while Look Of Love and My Legal Lady could also go well if on song.
RACE 4 – 3.55
Sonofagun comes here in rude health and has to be respected, but this does represent a step up in grade and he will need to continue progressing to defy his new mark. CHANGING THE GUARD ran better than his finishing position implies at Aintree and is fancied to reverse form with Oiseeau De Nuit under more positive tactics today. Lidar isn’t easy to predict, but he’s extremely well handicapped at his best and his prominent style of running could be suited to this tight circuit and he rates a threat to all.
RACE 5 – 4.25
Enchanting Smile probably sets the standard and has to be respected, but her form doesn’t look insurmountable and there’s every chance RAINBOW BEAUTY could make a winning debut, in receipt of the four-year-old allowance. Northern Meeting has claims if building on her recent debut effort and is another to consider in a race where the market could prove most informative.
RACE 6 – 5.00
The form of Witch’s Hat recent second was given a boost when the winner scored again but Jim Old’s eleven-year-old is an infrequent winner and he might be worth taking on. Although RAY DIAMOND has a couple of poor efforts to put behind him today’s better ground may help and he remains fairly treated at his best. Ring Bo Ree is another who is on a feasible mark, while General Ross is less exposed than a few of these and is another to consider in an open race.
RACE 7 – 5.35
Probably best to concentrate on those who come here with good recent form and despite rising in the weights, AREA ACCESS is the one that appeals most. Clearly in grand heart, he’s preferred over Polo Springs who also comes here off the back of a recent victory. Isthereadifference is another that has the ability to take a hand if sharp enough after his break, while Sukiyaki appeals as the one most likely to find some improvement now he tackles a handicap for the first time.
