Abbot's Whispers - Racing Review Wednesday 21 August
The BlueGlue Graduate Juvenile Maiden Hurdle Race 2m 1f looked a moderate maiden race. BALTIC BLADE trained at Horsham by Gary Moore and rated 62 on the Flat jumped the best of the field and it proved to be the key to winning this race. He went clear with the favourite Relentless as the pair picked up the pace, he stayed on the best and had the race won two out despite pecking the last to beat Vergality Ridge by 11 lengths.
The Blueglue Product Gurus Handicap Steeple Chase 2m 5 ½ f was run at a good pace. It was the inform stable of Neil Mulholland whose mare MAID OF SILK gave the yard its third win in two days. She travelled strongly throughout the race under Noel Fehily challenged the leaders two out and soon led to comfortably win by 7 lengths from Brimham Boy.
The BlueGlue Social Media Novices’ Hurdle Race 2m 6f proved to be a cracking novice event with an exciting sprint finish with four horses fighting it out from the second last. The Tom George trained KILBREE KID a previous course and distance winner justified favouritism to land the spoils he jumped fluently and saw it out gamely to beat Rob Conti by ¾ lengths with Experiment a neck away in third.
The feature race the £12,000 BlueGlue C-Suite Novices’ Steeple Chase 3m 2 ½ f looked on paper to be a match between two horses. It was the Harry Fry trained BOLD CHIEF who jumped well and was left well clear when his rival Oscargo fell two out. This left jockey Noel Fehilly on a double, he was able to coast home easing down to win by 40 lengths from Golden Squirell. The winner is one to note as his accurate jumping should stand him in good stead!
The BlueGlue Linux Sys Admin Handicap Hurdle Race 2m 6f was run at a good pace. The lightly raced WILLIAM PERCIVAL now trained by Mark Gillard in Sherborne was ridden in mid-division by Tommy Phelan and tracked the leaders before going clear on the home turn to beat Jigsaw Financial by 4 ½ lengths.
There was a very tight finish to a very competitive BlueGlue Lamp Hackers Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle Race 3m 3f.
DREAMSOFTHEATRE made it a hat-trick of wins when he landed the spoils for trainer Jonjo O’Neill whose yard is in cracking form at present. The winner was given a very patient ride by Maurice Lineham who came with a very strong run late on to battle it out with Southway Queen winning by a ½ length margin.
