Abbot's Whispers - Race Preview Wednesday 13 August 2014
2.10: Dual Flat winner VOSNE ROMANEE made a great start over hurdles when second last month and looks capable of going one better here. Intermath has been very consistent this summer but may have to settle for a place here if Full Day brings her flat form into the hurdling game she must have a big chance. Zephyr impressed when second on hurdling debut and is a danger.
PLACEPOT: 8 & 9
2.40: Easily Pleased has put in some solid performances and comes from a yard is in form so expect a big effort here. Bullet Street finished second here over the distance in June and looks a danger FAIRYINTHEWIND got off the mark over fences last time and has the potential to land this.
3.15: Conducting comes here in form having solid form on the Flat and a recent selling hurdle win under his belt. The re-uniting of A P McCoy with the well-bred MANJAKANI who was second here over the distance in June looks significant, the progressive Stephen Hero looks the main danger having won both a maiden and novice hurdle this summer.
PLACEPOT: 3 & 1
3.45: The Philip Hobbs trained LAMB OR COD won a Grade 3 hurdle on debut in 2012 and looks the class horse and should make it three back-to-back wins here. Last month’s course winner Luci Di Mezzanotte is the main danger but looks like she will have to settle for second on this occasion.
4.20: Heston put in a good effort to finish third over 2m 3f at Stratford last month and may just find this handicap to his liking. SPEED CHECK showed vast improvement last time when landing a novice handicap over the distance at Stratford and will take some beating here. The lightly raced Lygon Legend has been placed twice over hurdles and may be a danger here.
PLACEPOT: 6 & 1
4.50: Boosha showed better form when second in a handicap at Southwell last month and could run into a place here. Jimmy Frost’s lightly raced RUSTY NAIL is just 8lbs higher than when comfortably won over the course and distance last month and we expect him to score again today. Lodgician is another in form following his third at Straford last month and the market will indicate how significant the booking of A P McCoy on Unwanted Gift is!
5.20: Dazinski has been knocking on the door in recent outings so expect a good run from the Henry Oliver trained gelding. GOOD OF LUCK stayed on well to win here over 2m 1f last month and whilst he receives a 9lb hike his jockey Conor Walsh claims 5lb so we expect him to run a big race today. Bajan Blu looks to be the main danger he comes here in fine form with a win and a second under his belt last month.
