Abbot's Whispers - Race preview Thursday 21st August
5.25: Camachoice and Classic Colori have both shown promise in their last outings and could go close here, Miss Fortywinks looks to be running into some form having been placed twice of late following a disappointing start and looks the main danger here. Inform trainer John Ferguson who has had 3 wins out of 3 in the last two weeks runs the well-bred MONDLICHT here, he makes his hurdling debut following two wins on the AW for Mark Johnston this winter.
PLACEPOT: 3 & 5
6.00: GEORGIAN KING looks’ to be the one to be on in this open contest he showed positive signs last time when second over the distance at Uttoxeter and looks to be capable of going one better here. Crannaghmore Boy could be a danger if he shows improvement for his Stratford run, Philip Hobbs Lord Lescribaa knows how to win here he has done so four times but would need to re-discover some of that old form to have any chance today.
6.30: Tzora must be respected he comfortably won a chase here last month and reverts to hurdling today, the booking of A P McCoy looks to be significant for CHALK IT DOWN who was an easy winner at Market Rasen over the distance earlier this month. Honour System looks to be the main danger coming from a yard inform and has won twice over hurdles this spring/summer.
PLACEPOT: 2 & 5
7.00: Key To Milan was well beaten here in June but prior to that had been placed twice this spring and could pose a threat here. The lightly raced JUICY LEGEND a faller at Plumpton last time had previously performed well in all four handicaps starts this year and this weak event looks a good opportunity to gain that elusive win. Mac’s Grey looks to be the best of the rest having put in a creditable performance when third in a handicap chase at Fontwell.
7.30: Accessallareas showed some of his old form when finishing second here over the distance last week to Rusty Nail and with the champion jockey booked to ride here looks a danger here. The consistent Zama Zama has been knocking on the door in his last six outings and will possible start favourite but we burden recent Worcester winner GORTEENWOOD with our selection he looks to be in great form for Mark Gillard.
8.00: The David Pipe trained pair Rathlin Rose and Skylander have both won points and will cause a threat in this bumper. UPSANDDOWNS a winner of two bumpers in Ireland for Ray Hackett looks a nice sort and we fancy him to land this contest on debut for Evan Williams. The well-bred Arabic History has to be noted on debut for the inform John Ferguson.
