Abbot’s Whispers – MONDAY 10TH JUNE
Planning on joining us for more horseracing here in the sunny South West of England on Monday 10 June? If so, take a look at our Abbot’s Whispers below for the afternoon horseracing fixture.
If you haven’t bought your tickets yet, you don’t have to miss out. Tickets will be available on the gate on the day.
RACE 1 – 2.30
MOUNT VESUVIUS found himself outpaced at a crucial time over C&D last month and may have finished closer granted a better trip. He should have more to offer on only his fifth start for current connections and is fancied to open his account. Green Lightning deserves respect with the champion jockey aboard and rates a threat, while both Plug In Baby and Haveumistim are probably better than they have shown of late and could go well at fair odds.
RACE 2 – 3.00
Not easy to fancy any of these with maximum confidence, although Mount Welcome has shown winning form over fences and probably sets the standard. Walden Prince knew how to win over hurdles and is another that makes some appeal, but it could be the ideal opportunity for TUSKAR to get his chasing career back on track. Less exposed than some, he has a handy racing weight and market support would add confidence. Tom O’Tara has a fair level of form but lacks the winning habit.
RACE 3 – 3.30
The weights favour SAINT ROQUE in this event and the Paul Nicholls trained seven-year-old looks firmly on the upgrade, while Life And Soul looks hard work at times and might prove vulnerable under his double penalty. KimTian Road is the pick of the remaining pair and it would be no surprise to see the mare challenging for minor honours.
RACE 4 – 4.00
Forever My Friend will be rightly popular but the value of his most recent success is slightly obscured by the fact the favourite failed to complete. Nevertheless, he looks sure to go well but at the prospect of better odds, preference is for ICE COOL BENNY who looks on a fair mark and hails from a yard going well. Chase Gate is another recent winner who should also make his presence felt.
RACE 5 – 4.30
It’s been a while since LITTLE EAGLET has won a race but recent efforts have been better and he’s on a very handy mark if building on that promise and is proven over this trip. Nothing comes here in better form than Ahead Ahead and with the yard remaining in good form, he looks to have solid claims over a trip which promises to suit. Both Minella Bliss and Green Bank have place claims judged on their very best form and are others to consider in a wide open handicap.
RACE 6 – 5.00
Party Palace is a mare in form and she will be well fancied to follow up last month’s C&D success, but she needs a career best to defy her new mark and is narrowly passed over in favour of CAPTAIN SHARPE. Although form has been patchy of late, the selection has form figures of 212 over C&D and this represents a drop in class from recent assignments. Dashing Doc is another that would have claims on the pick of his form, in another open looking handicap.
RACE 7 – 5.30
DIMPSY TIME has been running well of late and had the misfortune of bumping into a well treated rival on her latest start. She’s narrowly preferred ahead of Petroupetrov who also has strong claims on the pick of his form, but he’s not found winning easy in recent season. Might As Well makes some appeal on his best form, but does have a poor run to put behind him.
