Abbot's Whispers - 1st April

RACE 1 – 2.10

A degree of guesswork is required with French import Remiluc making his British debut and while he’s very much respected on his first start for new connections, a chance is taken with SAIL BY THE SEA who returns from an absence. A positive ride over this shorter trip might see him get the job done. Revaader might struggle to get the better of the pair, but she fully deserves to find a race and is unlikely to go down without a fight.

RACE 2 – 2.40

Hold The Bucks has obvious claims whilst in such good heart but with the prospect of a fair pace on, this former flat performer might have his stamina tested in the conditions today. KAKI ISLAND remains unexposed in handicaps and hails from yard in good order and gets the verdict ahead of Lucky Sunny who could make them all go a bit from the front.

RACE 3 – 3.10

Gotoyourplay has had three weeks to get over his first run since an absence and if he’s in the same form as he showed at Taunton, he should take all the beating. However, at the prospect of bigger odds, SEVEN WOODS is interesting as he’s fairly treated on the pick of his best form and his tendency to get outpaced at a crucial stage might be overcome by the cheekpieces today. Cnoc Seoda is better than her form figures might suggest and she rates a threat to them both.

RACE 4 – 3.40

Not the strongest of contests and the ideal opportunity for ROTHMAN to make a winning start to his British career. Already a winner on heavy ground in France, he is expected to prove too good for bumper winners Volt Face and Buckhorn Timothy, both of whom should be capable of winning races over obstacles in due course.

RACE 5 – 4.10

PROUD TIMES had the misfortune of bumping into a well treated rival last month and is fancied to resume winning ways, looking a shade more progressive than most of today’s rivals. Roll The Dice is solid enough and is entitled to improve for his recent return after a layoff and looks a threat, along with Tolkeins Tango who has the benefit of a tongue-tie for the first time today.

RACE 6 – 4.40

Few of these arrive in top form, but a case could be made for many of them at their best. Jaunty Journey is down in class and having put in some fair efforts since the visor was applied, is one of the more obvious candidates. On the downside, he does race lazily at times and he might not be one for total confidence at short odds. AWARD WINNER is capable when on song and might have needed his first run in nearly four months when down the field at the end of February. From a handy enough mark and with Tony McCoy aboard, he gets a tentative vote. Elegant Olive and Fortification are others to consider.

RACE 7 – 5.10

A competitive event in which several can be given chances. Chosen Milan will be rightly popular receiving weight from all, but while she handles soft ground, she might be a shade better on a decent surface, so preference is for DOUBLE BANK who handled heavy ground with aplomb at Wincanton earlier this year. Certain Flight is another entitled to play a part with Sangfroid and Ladfromhighworth possibly the best of the rest.
